WHAT IS A KETO DIET?

A ketogenic diet is a low-carb, high-fat diet that puts your body in a fat-burning metabolic state called ketosis. During ketosis, your body burns fats instead of carbohydrates, producing ketones as an alternative energy source. Ketosis is ideal for maintaining stable blood sugar levels and healthy fat/weight loss.

ARE YOUR BREADS BAKED ACCORDING TO KETOGENIC GUIDELINES?

Our breads include our signature KetoBun and an array of KetoLoaves, all made in full accordance with ketogenic recipes. They are wholly made of almond flour, fibre-providing psyllium husk and other ketogenic ingredients, resulting in a slightly “brownish” appearance. Low-carb, sugar-free and gluten-free, our breads are ideal for healthy daily consumption.

We published a companion book, titled KetoBun Enhancements, which contains 14 keto-friendly recipes showing the different food items that can be paired with our KetoBun.

WHAT MAKES YOUR DESSERTS HEALTHY?

We carefully select choice ingredients that benefit your body. We use almond flour instead of wheat-based flour, and natural sugar alcohols instead of refined sugar.

Other healthy alternatives include apple cider vinegar, flaxseed, whey protein and almond milk. These ingredients are zero-added-sugar, low-carb and low-calorie.

WHY DO YOU USE ALMOND FLOUR?

Almond flour is low-carb and highly nutritious. It is packed with vitamin E, which serves as an antioxidant. Almond flour has also been linked with lower cholesterol and blood pressure

WHY ARE YOUR CAKES MORE CRUMBLY THAN OTHERS?

Our cakes are 100% gluten-free and yeast-free, which results in a mix with less stretch and structure. This gives our cakes a slightly tender crumb and lighter texture compared to regular cakes. This crumbliness is a distinctive characteristic of a keto-friendly cake made of almond flour.

HOW COME YOUR DESSERTS STILL TASTE SWEET WITHOUT SUGAR?

Instead of refined sugar or artificial sweeteners, we use erythritol — a sugar alcohol fermented from natural sugars found in corn. Erythritol is a sugar naturally found in our body and resembles refined sugar in taste, but is slightly less sweet.

IS ERYTHRITOL A TYPE OF ALCOHOL?

Erythritol is a naturally occurring sugar produced in plants, fruits and the human body. It does not contain ethanol — the chemical compound found in alcohol. Unlike most sugar alcohols, erythritol has zero calories and does not get absorbed into our bodies, preventing any weight gain. It is perfectly safe for consumption as a sugar substitute.

WILL MY BLOOD SUGAR SPIKE AFTER EATING YOUR DESSERTS?

Our desserts are diabetic-friendly as they contain ingredients with low glycemic index. This means they are absorbed slowly into the bloodstream, causing a gradual rise in blood sugar instead of sudden spikes.

WHY ARE YOUR PRODUCTS PRICIER THAN THOSE FROM REGULAR BAKERIES?

Our breads and desserts are made from ingredients sourced as naturally as possible. For instance, the almond flour we use is freshly created from natural whole almonds. The higher price is a reflection of the quality ingredients that you can taste in all of our products.

WHAT IS THE SHELF LIFE OF YOUR PRODUCTS?

As our products are free of preservatives and freshly made-to-order, they are best consumed within the day of collection/delivery.

Otherwise, they can be kept for up to:

  • – a week in the fridge
  • – a month in the freezer

KetoSpreads, even when unopened, should be refrigerated at all times.
